In October 2023, I was commissioned by TIME magazine to create a portrait of Taylor Swift using found materials, my chosen art medium.
After TIME bought the work, I discovered that Taylor had been named TIME Person of the Year.
Everything Taylor Swift does is perfectly thought out. TIME’s Art Director sent me a list of “Easter Eggs” to include in the portrait.
“Easter Eggs” are ‘meaningful things’ which Taylor hides in her social media posts, videos and images to give clues to upcoming song titles, lyrics or albums.
Her fans (Swifties) hunt for them.
